The Palm Springs Visitor Center is a destination in itself. The Mid-Century Modern structure was designed as a gas station in 1965 by famed architects Albert Frey and Robson Cambers. It was purchased in 2003 by the City of Palm Springs to be the new Visitor's Center and attracts over 125,000 people every year. It is located at the entrance to Mt. San Jacinto State Park, home to the world famous Palm Springs Aerial Tramway and cable cars.
